Hey, dont worry it took me a while to figure it out too... and i still have a lot of things i want to learn how to do. Go to the website above. It has free backgrounds you can use. It tells you how to put them in your html code and everything. Its easy.

Then for my headers i go to this website. http://www.dreamstreetpapers.com
Go to products then collections, then paper. What is different for this website is that if you click on a paper, it has the web address for the image above. So, you can copy and paste that paper in your html if you want that to be your background instead of the ones on the other site. If you did that it would look something like this...

body {

background:image:url(http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s65/huntsnlove/irememberwhencanvas.jpg);

With the paper's address you copy and paste from that website. If you want to use paper to make header you have to have some sort of program to resize it and type on it and stuff. Lots of people have photoshop or something like that. I downloaded this free program off of the internet called infran view. Its really simple and doesn't do much, but does what i need. To make a header, i go to the scapbooking website, i save the image to my computer. Then i bring it up in this program. I resize it and usually alter the colors around. Then i make a text box and insert the text i want. You simple drag and make a box and then go to insert text. You just save it and then go to your blog spot layout and click the header and upload it as an image. And click use that instead of having a title. Infran view is a really simple little program. I want to get something else because it wont let you add pictures or other things. Just text. But there is a start for you. Hope that helps. I would suggest just using one of the backgrounds from the first website at top and then creating a header using the scrapbook paper website and infran view.

the usual size of headers is 700x300. Mine right now i think is 660 x 950. But i dont remember exactly. You will know what i talking about if you use that program. When you resize the image it will have these kind of numbers.

sorry- i dont know what i was thinking when i told you those measurements for a header. The usual one i do is 500x300. I usually get rid of the border around it, because its hard to fit it into the sqaure. There is a website on blogspot, called tips for new bloggers... or something close to that. If you search for it you can find it. That website has a lot of good tips on there, i looked on there for how to take the border off where the header is. The one i have on now, i have the border. The header is a little larger though. Its 645 x 350. Hope that helps. I sure wrote enough huh!

It looks really good. How did you insert the picture? Which program did you use to do the header? Try resizing it to 645 x 350. Thats the size mine is now and it fits. Good job!
